Silicon coated to protect from contamination of food if the bulb is broken. This covers the Food Safety Regulations. The silicon coating is used in Theatres, Stores, Food areas and anywhere bulbs can be broken and can contaminate products. LED candle bulbs are shatterproof with a clear silicone material that is coated over the bulb. This keeps the bulb intact if broken and the glass stays contained inside the silicone sleeve.
We can shatterproof the old incandescent candle bulbs if we can still get hold of them, and new LED candle bulbs will be available.
